What Does It Mean If My Email Appears in Breach Data?

Modified on Fri, 12 Sep, 2025 at 7:15 AM

If PROSEC notifies you that your email has appeared in a data breach, it means your account was involved in a past security incident. It could be from a service you use (like Facebook, LinkedIn, or an online store) where hackers stole user credentials.

This is serious. It means:

  • Your email and password combination might already be in hacker hands

  • You are at risk of unauthorized access to your email or any linked accounts

  • You must act fast to reset your passwords and enable 2FA (Two-Factor Authentication)

PROSEC makes this process easier by:

  • Clearly identifying the breach incident

  • Providing recommendations on which accounts to secure

  • Allowing you to monitor multiple emails in real-time
