What Are Breach Databases and How Do They Affect Me?

Modified on Fri, 12 Sep, 2025 at 6:31 AM

A breach database is a collection of information that has been stolen or leaked during cyberattacks. This often includes email addresses, passwords, phone numbers, or other sensitive information — and is sometimes sold on the dark web.

If your email appears in one of these breach lists, it means:

  • Hackers may already have access to one or more of your accounts

  • You are more likely to receive phishing emails or targeted scams

  • Your data could be used for identity theft or to access linked services

PROSEC automatically checks breach databases and informs you if your email or credentials have been compromised. You’ll be prompted to change passwords and secure your accounts immediately — helping you avoid serious consequences.
